The Kallang Basin

Home: Welcome
image9.jpeg

Introduction

Kallang Basin was once one of the most prosperous industrial areas in Singapore. Many prominent landmarks, past and present, have existed at Kallang.

Through this cultural mapping project - by analyzing the history, significance and future potentials of representative historical buildings or areas in Kallang - we hope to awaken people’s memories of the Kallang Basin and re-establish their connection to the site's cultural heritage.

Who are we?

As part of our NUS Architectural Conservation module's completion, 10 of us are undertaking this project under the supervision of Prof Johannes Widodo.

We hope to kickstart nationwide discussions on the importance of Kallang Basin and its surrounding areas to our history, nation-building journey and future.
